  • What is a server?
A "server" is a computer or system on a network that manages and provides resources, data, services, or programs to other computers (called clients) upon request, essentially acting as a central hub to distribute information across a network; you can think of it like a waiter in a restaurant taking orders and delivering food to customers.

  • PCIe Cards
If you want to connect to your server I would use 10GB SFP+ fiber cards. You can get all kinds of different cable configurations which include different types of connections. Some are cheaper and easier. The most used are direct fiber cables which include the fiber cable in between the 2 modules. Or if you want to do a cheaper fiber OM3 multi mode fiber with 2 modules could work also. 10gb is your standard when it comes to network connectivity within a home in most cases. Cat6a is is to be your standard. Cat5e is obsolete. Cat5e can still work in most cases it all depends on what you want to do with your network.
